The following sections describe Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) that are valid only for C-130J.

If not specified in the Syllabus all procedures are to be followed as described in the C-130J manual, this manual can be found in the DCS installation folder "DCS World\Mods\aircraft\C130J\docs"

Tactics, Techniques and Procedures

Crew Workflow

The procedures described here aim to ensure a common view of the workflow during assignments in order to facilitate the change of staff. Pilots and Co-Pilots knows who do what and when even if it’s the first time flying together.

General responsibilities

  • Crewmember in control of the aircraft
- Starting up the aircraft
- Flying the aircraft
- Managing the autopilot
- Call for checklists as required during all stages of flight as shown below
- Communicating on intraflight
  • Crewmember not in control of the aircraft
- Operates COMM/NAV/IFF equipment and monitoring systems
- Assumes duties of navigator
- Programs the CNI during all phases of flight (except parts of startup, see below)
- Monitoring instruments during all phases of flight
- Readout of checklists as commanded by pilot in control (preferably perform checklist items before initiating checklist readout).

Responsibilities by role:

  • Pilot (Left seat)
- Managing the cargo through the EFB, including loading the cargo
- Managing Aerial Delivery panel
  • Co-Pilot (Right seat)

Before you jump into the cockpit, Co-Pilot FL should perform offline loading tests and note all values ​​required to complete step 6.b. These values ​​are then given to the flight before mission start, preferably in a "mission kneeboard" according to the example "C-130J CNI_MU Data Card" to the right or similar.

1. Pilot perform "Power up" checklist*.
2. Co-Pilot perform step 1 according to "CNI-MU Setup" checklist found here.** when CNI-MU is powered on (incl. set to monitor and turn up the volume for both pilot and Co-Pilot).
3. Pilot calls "Power Up done" on ICS when "Power up" checklist is completed. (Confirms ICS working)
4. Pilot performs comms check on Intra-flight.
5. Co-Pilot performs comms check on ch 6/7 as briefed.
6.a Pilot performs "Before starting engines" and "Starting engines" checklists*
6.b Co-Pilot setup CNI-MU according to step 2-6 in "CNI-MU Setup" checklist found here.**
7. Load cargo (Preferably done by the pilot to reduce the risk of desync)

* In-game checklists included in the module using "Sim - No Tests".
