* We use tactical callsigns, like "Enfield11" around the boat, instead of side numbers.
* We normally don't use Red Crown nor Strike. A flight inbound to the carrier simply contacts Marshal right away.

Our procedures depend on the type of launch/recovery configuration used. They are divided into three major systems:
# CATOBAR (Catapult Assisted Take-Off, Barrier Arrested Recovery) which includes CV-59 USS Forrestal and CVN-7x Supercarrieres.
# STOBAR (Short Take-Off, Barrier Arrested Recovery) which includes CV-11 USS Intrepid.
# STOVL (Short Take-Off, Vertical Landing) which includes LHA-1 USS Tarawa and R05 HMS Invincible

This section holds everything related to carrier ops. In general, we try to do things as close to real life as possible. For practical reasons there are some noticeable differences.

Short list of noticeable differences between ours and real-life procedures

  • We normally don't use Red Crown nor Strike. A flight inbound to the carrier simply contacts Marshal right away.
  • Since visibility is always very limited in DCS (depending on hardware and such) we do callouts in CASE 1. We are not zip-lip.

Carrier Specific Procedures

Our procedures depend on the type of launch/recovery configuration used. They are divided into three major systems:
