The goal should be to fly the Mi-24P as a crew (Pilot/CPG) to reach its full potential. However, In order to train effectively on your own, you as a pilot/CPG must be able to use Petrovich. Therefore you should be able to complete everything described in the Pilot/CPG "Basic Section" below with Petrovich. During Qualification your examiner will fly with you as Pilot/CPG.

Basic Section

The Basic Syllabus gives an overall picture of what is expected to be accomplished by our Mi-24P pilots and CPG’s and should be seen as a minimum level of knowledge. The syllabus should be used to identify educational needs and help you set up training goals for the next sortie. When you can complete all parts of the syllabus without the need for external assistance, you should be well prepared to complete the Basic Qualification.

General

Radio/SRS

  • Set Transponder code (SRS)
  • Select presets and transmit/receive (SRS) on:
- R-863 UHF
- R-852 VHF
- R-828 VHF FM
  • Use intercom PTT (SRS)
  • Basic Comms as part of a flight (not as lead)
  • Tune ATIS frequency, listen to and understand ATIS Information.


Flying

Startup

  • As described in Mi-24P TTP.

Takeoff

  • As described in Mi-24P TTP.
- Takeoff using "VMC Level Acceleration".

In-flight

  • Flying
- Fly in Combat cruise formation at low-level profile.
- Fly NOE as a single-ship in flat and open terrain.
- Hover IGE and OGE
- VRS Recovery
  • Navigation
- Visually navigate between two points using for example terrain objects as guidence (the compass and an empty F10 map may be used)
- Follow several waypoints in succession (flightplan) using information provided by the in-cockpit instruments or projected on HUD/HSD.
- Navigate To/From or in reference to ADF using Radials and information on TSD.
- Navigate using "Moving Map"
  • Trim/Autopilot
- Force trim
- Engage/Disengage:
  • HOVER MODE
  • ALTITUDE MODE
  • ROUTE MODE
  • SPEED MODE
  • Fence In / Fence Out procedures
- As described in Mi-24P TTP.
  • Emergency Jettison

- Landing using "VMC Approach to a Hover"

The Advanced Syllabus is aimed at those who have completed the Basic Qualification. Our Mi-24P pilots and CPG’s who want to take the next step whether it is to learn something new, like NOE ingress and carrier based operations, or strengthen their knowledge in topics covered in the Basic syllabus like communications or weapon deployment.
